a New Service: |
If youre looking for a job in the chemical sciences or recruiting to fill one, a comprehensive new online service is now available from the American Chemical Society (ACS). JobSpectrum.org is dedicated to serving the entire chemical sciences community by connecting job seekers and employers in the chemical sciences.
What sets JobSpectrum apart from Monster.com and the thousands of other "e-recruitment" sites is its emphasis on the individual, whether that person is a job seeker or hiring manager. JobSpectrum was created with the needs of the chemistry community specifically in mind. Scientists have very specialized career needs and JobSpectrum is better positioned to meet those needs than more general sites such as Monster or Headhunter.net.
Chemists using the site will be assured that they are reaching an audience that values their expertise. In return, employers will know that they are drawing from a pool of highly qualified candidates interested in using their chemistry backgrounds. Chemists work in many allied professionsbiotechnology, material sciences, environmental sciences, and molecular biology, for exampleand in many areas beside the bench, such as marketing, sales, finance, and publishing. Employers and candidates within the broad range of the chemistry community will be invited to participate.
JobSpectrum is committed to offering advanced technology and specialized content to help chemists manage their careers more effectively. Services for job seekers are always free and include:
Specialized content will include a weekly career column on a different workplace topic for readers of all career stages. Career profiles will present people using their science backgrounds in a variety of jobs, look at their career paths, and inspire readers to think creatively about their own career choices. Plus, JobSpectrum's unique relationship with ACS Career Services will provide readers with general employment resources that specifically target the chemical professional as well as current data on degrees and employment in the chemical labor forceinformation that can't be found anywhere else.
Employers will be able to list their jobs free through the end of August. State-of-the-art services include:
