Job Search
Q. How many different
ways can I format my resume?
A. Employers will use your text resume to find
you. However, you may attach up to three files
to your job application using our Document Manager.
Q. How do I apply for a position that I'm interested
in?
A. Click on "Apply for this job" button
at the bottom of the ad and follow the simple
instructions.
Q. Can I get any additional information on a
job posting?
A. Since employers post their own jobs, they will
only include the information that they want the
job seeker to have. However, we do offer information
on how to research specific companies in our Company
Information area. Also, most companies have corporate
web sites that you may find helpful.
Q. How do I know if the jobs that are posted
are still available?
A. Jobs will stay on JobSpectrum.org for at least
30 days from the post date. An employer could
opt to keep the posting up for 60 or 90 days.
Q. In my list of jobs applied to, one of the
entries is crossed out. Does this mean the employer
has seen my resume and isn't interested?
A. Active job postings appear in blue. If you
see in your list of jobs that you've applied to
that the entry is in black with a line through
it, this means that the employer has either deleted
that job or filled the position.
Q. How can I confirm that an employer has received
my resume when I apply online?
A. Once you successfully apply online for a position,
it will be listed in your application history
in your Personal Account. You can also follow
up with the employer if they list any contact
information.
Q. Will JobSpectrum send me reports about the
status of my job applications?
A. No. Once you have applied for a position, the
employer will contact you if your qualifications
meet their needs.
Q. How do I set up a New
Job Alert?
A. Save your search criteria in a New Job Alert
and the system will scan through new job listings
each day to locate jobs that match your specifications.
You will receive an e-mail notifying you when
there is a match. You can then follow the embedded
link in the e-mail message to view the matching
career opportunities and apply to them directly
if you like what you see.
